Guidance
Department
I am Ms. Brooks your guidance counselor. I
am very excited about being at Clearwater Elementary School. I began
working with Aiken County Public Schools in 2004 as a Personnel
Secretary (2004), an Administrative Assistant (2005), and a Career
Specialist (2006) at A.L. Corbett & Ridge Spring-Monetta Middle
Schools.
I received my Masters in Education Degree in
School Guidance Counseling from Cambridge College. I am certified in
the State of South Carolina as a K-12 School Counselor. As a School
Guidance Counselor I have the privilege of working with children in the
classroom, small groups, and in individual sessions.
I have the opportunity to consult and collaborate
with parents, teachers, and administrators on a daily basis. I also
serve students at Gloverville Elementary School. Please feel free to
call me with any questions or concerns regarding your child. I am
looking forward to a successful school year at Clearwater ES.
Clearwater Elementary School’s guidance and
counseling program is aligned with the Aiken County Public School and
the SC Comprehensive Developmental Guidance and Counseling Model.
Guidance and counseling services support each
student’s development of personal, social, and academic skills.
The objective of the guidance and counseling
program is to assist students with understanding their
feelings, learning coping skills, & etc.
Classroom Guidance Schedule:
- September: Responsibility & Friendship
- October: Patience & Fire Safety/Crime
Prevention
- November: Initiative & Career Awareness
- December: Self-Control & Self-Awareness
Guidance Referral Process:
Guidance services are available to any and all
students enrolled at Clearwater Elementary School. The referral process
consists of completing the “Guidance Referral Form” and returning it to
the Guidance Counselor. Who can make a referral? A student,
faculty/staff member, and/or parent may refer a student to see the
Guidance Counselor. The Guidance Counselor will notify the student of
the referral & meet with him or her. After the counseling session
the Guidance Counselor will inform the referrer that the student has
been seen. In respect to confidentiality the Guidance Counselor will
not discuss what was discussed in the counseling session.
