G/T stands for Gifted and Talented Educational Program. It is a state mandated program that serves
students in grades 3-12. The Area 3 program is deigned to challenge your child. Students will work on
interdisciplinary units based on “big ideas.” The students will develop the skills and attitudes of
inquiry, critical analysis, and creative thinking. Library, research skills and methods and procedures in
problem solving will be emphasized. The student will become more self-directed and more able to
pursue independent investigations into any kind of problem.
G/T students at LBC are serviced everyday. In 6th and 7th grade, the students go to their G/T class as an
exploratory class. In 8th grade, the students receive their G/T services in their Science class.
The mission of the Area 3 G/T program is to maximize the potential of gifted and talented students in
providing a program that will match the unique characteristics and needs of the students by offering a
challenging and accelerating curriculum.
