Coastal Carolina University Summer Arts Academy – held June 13-25; Open to 9-12 grade students. See Ms Carrick for more information

2010 SC Conservation District Youth Workshop – Juniors or Seniors, spend a week June 21- June25 studying wildlife, soil, geology, forestry, water and natural resource management. Hosted by Lander University. For more info see Ms. Carrick in guidance.

NACME Pre-Engineering Student Scholarship Program recognizes the nation’s highest achieving African American, Latino and American Indian seniors who have academic excellence, leadership skills and a commitment to science and engineering as a career goal. See Mrs. Smiley for application information

Newberry College Scholarship for $10,000 year for the new Miss SC USA and Miss SC Teen USA. If you are interested in attending this college see Ms. Carrick in guidance.

Juniors – Juniors who are interested in gaining leadership and academic skills through participation in summer programs for 2010 need to see Ms Carrick in guidance. Institutions include VMI, Military Leadership Academy, Furman, USC, Converse, Clafin, Coker, Emory, Broyhill Leadership Conference, Columbia College, Girl Scouts Destinations Program and Fort Discovery Student Volunteer Program.

 Scholarship information from previous postings:   

Columbia College has been awarded a grant for young women majoring in chemistry, math, or computer. Students must meet the Life Scholarship requirements. The scholarship is for $7,500 a year and targets women and minorities. Interested young ladies should contact Dr. Baker. See Mrs. Smiley for further information

Palmetto Fellows may be eligible for an Anderson University Fellows Scholarship of full tuition, room, and board. Contact admissions at Anderson for details.

Anderson University Theatre Department offers scholarships up to $4,000 per year.

Savannah State University offers a degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Students can receive in state tuition costs for this program

Aiken Electric Cooperative, Inc. is offering high school seniors the opportunity to compete for two $1,000 Touchstone Energy (TSE) scholarships. In addition, the cooperative’s Board of Trustees personally fund a $1,000 scholarship, which is awarded to a student with financial need.

Fort Valley State University’s Augusta area Alumni chapter offers scholarships. Contact information is available for any senior who will attend Fort Valley State University.

Salliemae.com offers a free scholarship search. Students who register are entered  in a monthly drawing  for a $1,000 scholarship.

The Common Black College Application is accepted at 34 member institutions. Students can apply for a one time fee of $35.00. Visit eduinconline.com to complete an application

Aiken Technical College offers campus tours on Monday and Wednesday at 1:00 pm and Friday at 9:00 am. Reservations are requested. Contact Lisa Summers at Aiken Tech.

Students at any Aiken County Public School who are dually enrolled at Aiken Technical College can apply to win $500 scholarship toward tuition at the college. This scholarship is being awarded by Horace Mann agent Kevin Hunt. To be eligible, you must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, and be enrolled in two classes at Aiken Technical College during the semester the scholarship is awarded. The 2010 “Oh, The Places You’ll Go” College Scholarship Program offers a scholarship to students graduating in 2010. Visit the ohtheplaces.org website for applications
