A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Welcome to a brand new school year at Oakwood-Windsor Elementary school!  I am Mrs. Debra McCord, new principal at OWES, and I am very excited about this upcoming year!  I know that this school has a long-standing history of being warm and inviting and I hope to build on that reputation and create an atmosphere that reaches out to the family and makes them a part of the whole educational process.  Our goal is to be committed to ensuring that all students have every opportunity to be the best that they can be!

Reading is the most powerful skill a child can learn, as it influences success in school and in life.  Our teachers are constantly learning and gaining knowledge on how to better meet the needs of our children to produce strong readers.  One major focus this year is going to be creating and maintaining a strong reading program in our school.

The school theme this year is OWES…..A recipe for success.  A critical part of the recipe for success is YOU, the parent.  Here at OWES, we hope to build a bridge between home and school that will support the children and help them succeed.  Please join us this year by volunteering at the school, coming to school events, becoming a part of PTO, and staying in contact with your child’s teacher regularly.

I know that this school year will be memorable and filled with learning opportunities for your child and family!  I am proud to be able to welcome you to the 2010-2011 year at OWES….A Recipe for Success!
