Recently AYP results were released for schools in Aiken County.  Unfortunately, we were one of the schools that did not meet the requirements.  Though we are determined to improve each year, I want each of you to know that these results don’t reflect the progress Schofield has made in recent years.  Schofield met 19 of 21 objectives.  The two objectives that were failed relate to special education.  Students with special needs take the same examination (PASS) as regular education student, and their scores impact AYP.  The critical piece to this format relates to the number of special education students at each school. If a school has less than 40 special education students, their results are not calculated so AYP results are not impacted. 

We proud of all of our students, and we will continue to promote their success.  The details of AYP are not often shared with parents, so I felt compelled to share this information.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.  I will always have time to share good news about Schofield Middle.  Our students and faculty will move forward, and we will continue to be the best middle school in Aiken County. We will continue to provide instruction and promote programs that promote success for all students.  Meeting AYP is just one of our Goals!
