WSHS Band Staff
Seth Forston - Director of Bands Mr. Forston is a native of Lexington, Kentucky. A graduate of Lafayette High School (Kentucky), he went on to complete a Bachelor of Music Education Degree at the University of South Carolina, Columbia. He has studied trumpet with Dr. Keith Amstutz, Dr. Kevin Eisensmith, Dr. Ian Pearson, and Mr. Scott Heersche. Under his direction, the band his finished in the top twelve at State Marching Finals every year, twice medaling in 2004 (2nd) and 2005 (3rd), and has won the Lower State Championship (2004). An emphasis has been placed on concert and small ensemble playing. The concert band performs annually at festivals around the state and in concert at Wagener-Salley High School and A.L. Corbett Middle School. The band has placed students in the Aiken All-County Honor Band, the SCBDA Region 2 Band, and has sent students to the Govenor's All-Star Band, USC Band Clinic, and Columbia College Band Clinic. Each year a large percentage of students participate in solo and ensemble festival. Mr. Forston is active as an adjudicator, clinician, arranger, and performer. He is a free-lance performer on trumpet and has arranged marching band music for his own band. His professional memberships include the Music Educators National Conference, the South Carolina Band Directors Association, and the Aiken County Band Directors Association. He is also an honorary member of the Sigma Alpha Chi fraternity. Mr. Forston and his wife, Kimberly, have a daughter Delaney.
