Congratulations to Schofield Middle School...we are
the first Green Steps School in Aiken County! Schofield Middle
has been recycling for 3 years! Mrs. Ashley’s 7th grade
students picked up the paper totes on Fridays from each teacher’s
classroom and on Mondays rolled the carts to the curb for pickup
from the City of Aiken. The students REALLY enjoyed providing
this service for our school. Last year added collecting plastic
bottles, which Mrs. Roach’s students were in charge of
and Ms. Wren’s students ran the aluminum can recycling
program. The City of Aiken generously donated all of the recycling
bins that we needed for all three programs. We are now a Green
Steps School-showing that we have a sustainable environmentally
friendly program, supported by staff and students, to protect
the environment and teach others about what they can do to help.
Let's continue to make this program a success.
