BACK
TO SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!
The
Back to School Media Blitz was a huge success. Tammie
Newman, Public Information Officer, organized several
activities to better inform parents, students and new
administrators on the facts for starting the 2010-11 school
year off. The News 12 WRDW Back to School Hotline provided
answers to over 350 Aiken County residents needing information
on our school system. While at WAAW-Shout, "Educations
Matters" host and school board member Donna Wesby
asked informative questions for listeners to receive ample
back to school data. Ms. Newman also hosted a media workshop
for new and veteran administrators who often work with
media during the school year. Local media representatives
(Rob Novit-Aiken Standard, Amanda Perez-WRDW Channel 12,
Kait Rayner- WJBF Channel 6), school board attorney Bill
Burkhalter, and SC State Department of Education information
office representative, Pete Pillow, were on hand to assist
with questions and issues often encountered by administrators
and media. If you were unable to take part in any of these
events, Terri Booth, school district webmaster, created
an informative web
link filled with all the back to school details as
well. These events aided in a smooth return to classrooms
in 2010. Have a great school year. |
