Major Employee Benefits


I. Leaves

A. Sick Leave
1. Accrued monthly (total of 12 days per year for nine-month employees; 13 days for ten-month employees; 14 days for eleven-month employees; 15 days for twelve-month employees)

B. Personal Leave
1. Two (2) days per year from sick leave allowable
2. Cumulative, maximum of four (4) days per year

C. Maternity Leave
1. Use of accumulated sick leave and annual leave
2. Eligibility to continue insurance benefits at own expense after sick leave and annual leave are exhausted

D. Family and Medical Leave
1. Up to twelve weeks leave per year
2. Eligibility to continue insurance benefits at own expense after sick leave and annual leave are exhausted

E. Military Leave
1. 15 days per year for training
2. Additional 30 days during an emergency
3. Leave without loss of pay, seniority, or efficiency rating

F. Certified Personnel Sabbaticals
1. See Policy “GCC” Professional Staff Leave and Absences

G. Leave for Conferences
1. Authorized by District Superintendent and the immediate supervisor
2. Leave without loss of pay if authorized

H. Vacation
1. Two (2) weeks for twelve-month employees; three (3) weeks for twelve-month employees having twelve or more years service
2. Vacation time in addition to thirteen (13) holidays (14 during election years)

L. Work Hours
a. CLASSIFIED PERSONNEL – Number of hours per day as specified on individual contracts for employees.
b. CERTIFIED PERSONNEL – Salaried positions anticipate at least eight-hour workdays, but do not involve hourly-based pay. The employee’s immediate supervisor will designate work schedules as may be necessary to facilitate specific school operations and requirements.
