Aiken County home to five “perfect” seniors

It has been said that Aiken County’s public schools are the place to be; a place students want to be on a daily basis. Five students have proven that theory to be 100% true by attending school for the past 12 years without missing a day. These students are among an elite group of 72 students across South Carolina to achieve such a feat. Aiken County has the third highest amount of perfect attendees, with only Greenville County (7 students) and Spartanburg-6 County (6 students) having more. Oconee County and Cherokee County also have five students with perfect attendance. District Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Everitt states, “We are very proud of the dedication and fortitude these students have displayed by their prompt attendance every day. Our hats are off to the parents who encouraged their attendance and stressed the importance of education to their children. The school board and I look forward to recognizing each of them during an upcoming board meeting.”

“It is no surprise to me that we have several ‘perfect’ students in Aiken County. No matter what I accomplish in life, having my own ‘12 years of perfect attendance’ in Aiken County is one accomplishment I am most proud of. A love of school, teachers, and learning has led these students to show up every day. Staying healthy is also a big part of maintaining an uninterrupted attendance record,” states Tammie Newman, Public Information Officer.  The students will receive an official certificate and letter from State Superintendent of Education Mick Zais. They will also be recognized by the Aiken County Board of Education in the near future.
