What is an E2T2 Grant?
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) was signed into law February 2009. It was designed to pump $787 billion into the economy over the next two years. Of that amount, $100 billion was specifically earmarked for education. Education Technology state grants account for a portion of those funds. $650 million is in the state grants program for Enhancing Education Through Technology EETT (or E2T2).
How does Aiken County fit in?
Aiken County Public Schools, applied for and was awarded an Education Technology grant in the fall of 2009. The grant was written to target a very specific group. All seven high schools in the district, as well as Lloyd-Kennedy charter school will receive funding and support related to the grant. Students and teachers of 9th grade courses,part of the End Of Course Examination Program, and those of Advanced Placement courses have been targeted by the grant. Teachers of these students will receive professional development related to instructional technology as well as have additional technological resources made available to them.
