Aiken County Public Schools’ Literacy Model

The Elementary Literacy Model was developed at the start of the 2008-2009 school year after Dr. Everitt and the district instructional leadership team set a goal to improve literacy in Aiken County Schools. The model includes a focus on the five components of reading through the integration of scientifically based instructional practices adapted from Reading First and the National Reading Panel. The model is implemented and monitored in a collaborative effort through all of the departments housed within the Division of Instruction and Accountability. For additional information, please contact Michele Conner or Dr. Kevin O'Gorman.
